DIY Ad-hoc Assistance
DIY Ad-hoc assistance can be provided in all sorts of situations.
It is most commonly used to help someone who is acting in person (running their own case) within Court Proceedings. For example you may want help drafting a statement or preparing for a Hearing.
This is sometimes called “unbundled work”. It is very important to carefully discuss with the solicitor what you do and do not want them to do. You can agree a fee with your solicitor for an individual piece of work. In this situation, the solicitor would not go on the court record, write to another solicitor, or represent you at a hearing.
Unlike a solicitor who represents you throughout, any solicitor acting in this capacity will not be guiding the case or providing advice throughout.
It is possible to instruct a solicitor to do one piece of work and then ask them to go on and fully represent you in Court Proceedings.
All our solicitors take on work on an ad-hoc basis provided terms can be agreed.
