Family Law Solicitors
At Kay & Pascoe we believe we are Family Law Solicitors with a difference. Initially, we will spend up to an hour with you to discuss your family related problems to try and find a solution that will be best for you and your family. There is a fixed rate for this of £90 including VAT. As Family Law Solicitors we will not rush you to the courtroom door to resolve your problems but will discuss the alternatives that are available to you. This may be Family Mediation or the relatively new Collaborative Law process.
The Family Law Solicitors at Kay & Pascoe can help you with various issues that arise on divorce or separation. Apart from dealing with the practicalities on separation we can advise on the legal process and prepare the documents for a divorce or a separation agreement.
A common problem when parents separate is resolving issues about the children sharing their time between both parents and how this will fit in with the children’s after school activities and other commitments. Another problem arises when one parent wants to move away or live abroad and this can cause an enormous amount of stress and difficulty for the entire family. Whilst we can provide the legal support, we can also put you in touch with other professionals who work with families to provide counselling and other assistance.
It is not always when a relationship has broken down that we are asked to assist. Our lawyers can prepare Pre-Nuptial and Cohabitation Agreements. These documents set out the legal framework for your relationship and are especially important when one party has significantly more wealth than the other which needs to be protected should the relationship break down.
As family lawyers we can also assist when there is domestic violence. We can advise on practical steps to maintain a safe home environment and prepare injunction proceedings if necessary. Unfortunately, where domestic violence is involved it is not usually appropriate to use Mediation and the court can provide the quickest and most effective way of obtaining protection for the person who is suffering abuse.
